PARIS, 21 June 2017 – AirAsia is the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the ninth year in a row. Asia’s largest low-cost carrier won the accolades at the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards in the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace at Le Bourget Airport here yesterday. Dubbed the “Oscars of the Aviation Industry”, the Skytrax Awards are the global benchmark of airline excellence with over 19.9 million customer surveys completed worldwide by more than 105 nationalities, measuring standards across 49 key performance indicators of an airline’s frontline products and services. BEIJING, 14 May 2017 – AirAsia Berhad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Everbright and Henan Government Working Group to establish a low-cost carrier (LCC) in China. The parties will incorporate a joint venture to be known as AirAsia (China) for the purposes of operating a low-cost aviation business based in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province in central China. In addition, AirAsia (China) will invest in aviation infrastructure, including a dedicated LCC terminal at Zhengzhou airport and an aviation academy to train pilots, crew and engineers, as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities to service aircraft.

SEPANG, 19 April 2017 – AirAsia Berhad is acquiring a 50% stake in online travel planner Touristly Travel Sdn Bhd (Touristly) through an asset injection and loan deal valued at RM11.5 million. The transaction will see AirAsia Berhad inject the digital platform of its Travel 3Sixty inflight magazine, valued at RM6.5 million, into Touristly via AirAsia Investments Ltd and extend a RM5 million convertible loan to Touristly for working capital and development. Touristly, which will operate under the Travel 3Sixty brand following this deal, will also gain access to offline advertising assets, including the physical version of the inflight magazine, overhead cabins and seat trays on AirAsia aircraft. The deal will strengthen AirAsia's ancillary portfolio by offering its guests on-ground activities such as restaurants, theme parks, attractions, spas and tours at more than 70 destinations where the airline operates.

HAMBURG, 5 APRIL 2017 – AirAsia, through its subsidiary ROKKI Sdn Bhd, has signed a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) with Inmarsat for its next-generation GX Aviation inflight connectivity solution. Installation is expected to commence this year, with the service to go live in 2018. AirAsia is currently one of the leading airline customers for Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband service and will upgrade to GX Aviation, the world’s first inflight broadband solution with reliable, seamless high-speed global coverage provided through a single operator.

SEPANG, 22 & 23 FEBRUARY 2017 – AirAsia X Berhad (“AAX”) and AirAsia Berhad (“AirAsia”) reported their financial results for the Fourth Quarter (“4Q16”) and Full Financial Year ended 31 December 2016.

AirAsia Group, consisting of AirAsia Berhad and associate airlines in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Japan, posted combined revenue of RM12.02 billion for FY2016 compared to RM10.79 billion in the previous financial year. Operating profit for the group was reported at RM2.15 billion, up 24% from the previous year.

Meanwhile, AAX posted a quarterly revenue of RM1.17 billion, up 39% from the same quarter last year. The strong revenue recorded was on the back of a 40% year-on-year (“YoY”) growth in the number of passengers carried to 1.38 million, which was in line with the 44% Available Seat per Kilometre (“ASK”) capacity growth, allowing the Company to record a load factor of 81%.

DECEMBER 3, 2016 – AirAsia has been named World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline for the fourth year in a row at the 23rd World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final here today. AirAsia also won the World's Leading Inflight Service title for the first time ever, beating full-service carriers Etihad Airways, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Qantas Airways, Lufthansa, American Airlines and Air Canada. The win builds on AirAsia's success earlier this year when it secured Asia's Leading Inflight Service award from WTA for the first time. Meanwhile, the lounge offers spectacular views of the airline’s bright red birds taking off and landing. OCTOBER 31, 2016: AirAsia X Berhad is pleased to announce its operating statistics for the 3rd quarter 2016 (“3Q16”). Operating performance in 3Q16 has exceeded expectations despite huge capacity added during the quarter with a whopping 35% increase year-on-year (“YoY”) to 1.22 million on the number of passengers carried, exceeding capacity addition of 29%. Overall performance in 3Q16 signifies marked improvements in all areas compared to the same period last year despite huge capacity added. AirAsia X remains cautiously optimistic to ensure sustainable growth and strengthening its position in core markets going into 4Q16 as well as 2017.

OCTOBER 18, 2016: AirAsia has bagged top honours at the 2016 World Travel Awards (Asia and Australasia), winning the prestigious Asia's Leading Low-Cost Airline title for the fourth time. Asia's largest low-cost carrier by passengers carried and jet fleet was crowned the region's top budget airline, ahead of Jetstar Airways, West Air, GoAir, JetKonnect, Air India Express, Nok Air and FireFly. OCTOBER 4, 2016: AirAsia recently announced its sponsorship of Korean drama, “On The Way to the Airport” by Korean Broadcasting System (KBS). The drama stars Lee Sang-Yoon and Kim Ha-Neul and explores the relationships of thirtysomethings working in the aviation industry, with the main characters depicted as an AirAsia pilot and cabin crew. SEPTEMBER 20, 2016: Tune Protect recently teamed up with the National Council of St John Ambulance of Malaysia (St John) to recognise the spirit of volunteerism and compassion in celebration of Malaysia Day. Aimed at paying tribute to long-serving members of St John this collaboration hopes to showcase the importance of always staying protected even while performing community service to the public. SEPTEMBER 19, 2016: Low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd has revealed plans to bring forward the delivery of its new Airbus A320neo aircraft next year to cater for the growing demand of Asean air travel. Recently, AirAsia became the first airline in Southeast Asia to receive and operate the Airbus A320neo aircraft, which is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines. At the aircraft welcoming ceremony, Airbus executive vice-president Kiran Rao said airlines could reduce fuel consumption by 15 per cent and lower their maintenance costs further with the Airbus A320neo.

JULY 18, 2016: Tune Protect Group Bhd has appointed Razman Hafidz Abu Zarim as its new chief executive officer effective July 15, 2016. Prior to this, Razman sat on the Board of Tune Protect as chairman and independent non-executive director.
